Float Spa
A few weeks ago the girls in my family spent our GNO at the Float Spa in Provo. We all didn't know what to expect going into it but I've had massages and facials before and boy do I love those! So it must be relaxing, right? We were excited and a little nervous to be honest but our first experience was great! When you arrive, before your first float they have a short video explaining what Float Therapy is the benefits that are including in it. I found a similar video here...
Afterwords, a tour of the whole spa is given so you get a feel for it and know what to expect. They explain how the float will go and show everything needed to have a great experience! Below is one float spa room (you're in your own room the whole session).
A breakdown of the Float...
1. Undress, put your earplugs in (they provide them), and rinse off in the shower.
It's nice to wash off a little, take your make off, and feel fresh before getting into the float pod.
2. Get in the float pod, shut the door, sit back and float!
At this point it was a lot of learning, remembering what was explained to me and just seeing what I liked best. There were buttons in the pod to control music (soft spa music) and lights. I played around with those for a bit until I found what I liked best.
3. 60 minute float!
Here's where I tested out which position I liked my arms best while focusing on taking nice deeeeeep breaths. I focused on relaxing each part of my body until I found myself twitching (yup, it's okay to fall asleep! after all, you're floating!).
4. Stretch and rinse off.
After your float you'll want to take a few minutes to stretch then get back in the shower to rinse off all that salt! They provide shampoo, conditioner & body wash for you!
My experiences with the float spa have been incredible! I've gone back again a second time (and took Robby) and I must say it gets better the more you do it! (Mostly cause you know what to expect and your mind isn't trying to tell your body to float, you just do!) Robby said he loved it too! Floating is one of the most relaxing things I've ever experienced! There were times when I wasn't sure if I was awake or asleep I was so relaxed. Each time I've gone I've also felt like I've lost track of time. It's a 60 minute session and yet it honestly felt like 15 minutes, it went by so fast! Needless to say, I'm hooked!
